I stopped at a gas station to use my company gas card for the first time in the company truck and this guy starts limping towards me with no mask. He did pull something over his face before he got to me, then he says, “can I bend yer ear” all weird. So this felt like the typical homeless guy or weirdo ambushing you while filling up because you’re captive until it’s full. I said, “nah that’s ok” and then he started taking pictures of the truck and said he was going to report me for not being nice! Hey dickwad, how about starting with, “can I ask you a question about Sonic Internet” ?? I texted my training boss and told him. Well I guess I have to get in the mindset that the truck is a mobile billboard and I will get nutters. I’m still in hermit mode from covid, anyway I didn’t need this right before we start training in the field tomorrow.

I don’t know what he wanted, if he did want to know about Sonic it wasn’t the way to go about it. I wasn’t in SF, the nutters are all around there. I guess I have to be super nice, I don’t want to piss off my bosses.

Always be representing.

I find it odd when I see a company vehicle being driven aggressively or erratically. Not only do people pass judgement on your employer, but the phone number to call and complain is typically front and center.

Ours are all vinyled up, no removal! I would have been happy to tell him how little I know about my new job if he asked, I don’t really know.

We drive like grandmas, I’m paid til I get home so I just chill and go 65 in the slow lane. We have a camera facing forward and maybe back, so I do what I’m supposed to do, it’s cool I’m on the clock.

Yeah I live in Larkspur, Marin. I usually work on shows but it’s all shut down so my friend and I got jobs working on fiber optics.

Sometimes I feel bad for not giving someone a chance if I misjudged them. But that guy also has to realize how he presents himself. It’s normal to be cautious of someone in that situation. That’s why lots of beggars start off with their promise that they aren’t going to ask me for money...right before they ask me fir money.

I can’t deal with the public, I got shitted on pretty heavily at the jiffy lube at high school age so these days it takes me a bit of restraint in dealing with strangers when working on the job. Thankfully, it’s seldom for my sake (and theirs ).

yeah I keep thinking it over, if had just said, can I ask you a question about Sonic, I would have just said ok. But who knows what he wanted. I guess with this truck I will have to go with the flow until I can see it isn’t about that. I am just in the middle of training and not being totally comfortable so it just makes me feel more stressed.

Yeah, I’ve been working on shows for seven years and the uppity people in show biz get really stuffy and I want to punch them. So I was happy this job has none of that. I guess I still have to be ready.
